Poland has 15 winners for European final
StartUp Europe Awards is an initiative of the European Commission, together with Finnova Foundation, which presents a methodology to encourage open innovation and collaboration between the different actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In addition, “it aims to accelerate startups with funds from the European Union (SME instrument up to 2.5 million euros), as well as offering legal advice, networking, international communication, among other benefits” states JuanmaRevuelta CEO of Finnova Foundation. StartUp Europe Awards is also a tool to improve the awareness and communication of entrepreneurship values.
Foundation Work Nations organized the Polish final. The Foundation for the Nations, the Polish is an initiative by the Youth for Christ to draw together suitable YFC projects from around the world to with those who have to financial capacity to make them happen. The motto is “Wealth into Worth for the World”, to make informed decisions about safe giving destinations for their hard-earned money. The winners in this country are:
For Agritech, the winner is BZB UAS. BZB is primarily people – passionate, committed and devoted to their work, always ready to help and support their clients. BZB consists of professionals with many years of experience in the construction and operation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that are confirmed by many internationally competitions.
PackHelp, for Creative is a startup allows designing and ordering customised packaging. The product’s main advantages are: very intuitive and user-friendly online box editor, a very small minimum quantity per order (30 pieces contrary to industry’s average of 500 pieces) and a very short production process that starts from 14 days. The company is currently present in all of the EU, whilst the offer has been localised for seven markets in total.
Cybersecurity category was won by SpecFile. They make easy, secure, data management everywhere. It is easy and intuitive 1-click protection for files.
Revas won Edtech category. Revas delivers tools for entrepreneurship education – industry specific business simulations – for secondary schools and universities. Simulation participants run virtual businesses in a selected industry that match their field of study/profession (Car garage, Beauty salon, Transport company, IT services). They compete on a virtual market getting hands-on business experience and training business acumen & key competence.
For the e-Health Pregnabit category. Early detection of threats to mother and baby, including through CTG measurements, may have a real impact on quicker medical response during pregnancy. Pregnabit system enables CTG monitoring of pregnant women at anytime and anywhere. Our mission is to support health care professionals, to bring every pregnancy to the happy end.
OgarniamPrad.pl won Energy category. The first social energy trading platform for collective and profiled energy purchasing and switching. It allows smaller customers – households and SME – execute bulk-buying power and shop around for the best energy deals in real time and switch to the most competitive retailers offering black or green electricity and gas. Easy, reliable and profitable as it has never been before.
In the Fintech the winner is ZweyfikujFirme, “Yearly entrepreneurs in Poland lose 100 billion PLN due to payment gridlocks. 80% of companies have difficulties with receivables collection. We are preparing an automated online platform for entrepreneurs to assess companies’ current credibility based on the Standard Audit Files for Tax (JednolitePlikiKontrolne). Our solution is applicable for 1.6M companies in Poland. Thanks to our products companies can limit their losses from bad debt by 20% and increase sale by 1%. In cooperation with PKO BP we are working also on a product for financial institutions. We are a fintech team – we combine financial and technical skills. Two statutory auditors and IT specialist have knowledge required to successfully accomplish this project.
In Gastronomy category, STKTK Stocktaking is a long and laborious process. Traditional solutions are time-consuming and expensive. STKTK is a modern beverage stocktaking platform, which solves these problems and makes the whole process quick and easy.
HyperPoland, in Green category. Hyper Poland is a multidisciplinary team of experts working on the creation of a new means of transport – a vacuum train called the Hyperloop. It combines the advantages of trains and aircrafts, and at the same time eliminates the disadvantages of currently dominant means of transport. Under low vacuum conditions, the passenger and cargo pods can reach speeds of up to 1200 km/h, while consuming up to 1000 times less energy than in the atmosphere at the sea level.
In IoT, Tap ToSpeack is the winner. Tap To Speak is a web-based tool, that allows the event moderator or a speaker to communicate with the attendees of an event in real time. We turn every smartphone in the audience into a microphone. We enable the audience to communicate via audio, text,respond to surveys and polls. We also help the event organizers to identify and collect information about the audience.
Legal category was won by SpecPrawnik. Specprawnik.pl is a marketplace for people searching for lawyers. It is currently the most mature and recognizable legal tech platform in Poland with ready-to-buy legal services.
Less won Smart Cities Category. The company’s main goal is to create technologically advanced infrastructure solutions for urban revitalisation in the context of Smart City projects. We have a workforce of engineers, specialists and managers who have been working in large international companies over the last several years. This experience of co-operating in lighting, security, telecommunication and electronics, give good creative results of this synergy. We believe that through our actions, we will have a positive impact on the environment and the future of building public space infrastructure for our planet.
The best Social startup is Parrot One. Is a mobile messaging app and a physical touch keyboard to make communication and remote work easier for users with less agile hands (esp. the disabled and elderly). Our proprietary AI helps type entire sentences in a just a few clicks and learn new languages. Designed with the needs of disabled users in mind.
Sky Tronic won the Tourism category. They are specializing in designing and production of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) based on innovative fuzzy logic steering and flight control systems to enhance flight safety and stability in difficult weather conditions. Our unmanned helicopter is dedicated to more efficient and cheaper coordination of public safety and life rescue operations of mountain and water rescue agencies, police, fire department than existing helicopters to find the lost, injured and the victims of the accidents and snow avalanche victims faster and deliver medical equipment.
For Water category, Handy Shower is the winner. This is an innovative 3-in-1 personal hygiene system. The main idea behind the project was to help those living in the developing world, where sanitation conditions are often very problematic and every drop of water is precious. The device, however, can also be used during emergencies or simply for recreation. The full HandyShower kit includes a solar water bag, 4 interchangeable nozzles (a faucet, a bidet and 2 shower nozzles) and fits into a small sachet. The device is equipped with a patented self-closing valve, which facilitates water conservation.
Italian winners for StartUp Europe Awards
StartUp Europe Awards 2017is an international competition promoted by the European Commission and Finnova Foundation to stimulate open innovation and collaboration between the different actors of the European ecosystem through public-private partnerships in support of the entrepreneurs.
The prize-giving ceremony of the startup winners of this year’s edition took place on December 12th, organized by Starboost Srl, Company Creator, where the CEO and Co-founder, Mattia Conte, represents Italy as Country Manager for SEUA17, in partnership with CNA Young Entrepreneurs.
A national jury of experts in the field assessed more than 60 applications from all over Italy, according to criteria such as degree of innovation, sustainability of the business model and team composition, and have selected the winning startups, each for own category.
During the evening, startups presented their businesses with a pitch and videos. The event was attended by Marco Zanni, Member of the European Parliament, who has connected from Brussels by a video call, Daniele Alberti, Eleonora Rocca, marketing manager CEO & Founder of Mashable Social Media. Day Italy and Digital Innovation Days, Adriano Travaglia, lawyer, startupper, manager, Founding Solomon & Travaglia, President of the European Start Up Association and Giovanni Caponetto on behalf of the European Commission, also Chiara Appendino, Mayor of Turin.
The Italian winners are:
Agricolus in Agritech category, their aims is to support farmers, agronomists and other operators in the agricultural world optimising agronomic practices, integrating expertise and the latest technologies data collection and analysis.
In Fintech category, Helperbit, is the winner. Helperbit uses blockchain to bring transparency in the charitable and insurance sector. The platform allows tracking of donations up to final beneficiary and to subscribe to a mutual plan against disasters.
HotBox, for the Gastronomy category. Hotbox solves the problem of cold and rubbery pizza to home thanks to the use of excess heat from the scooter and the de-umming system which allows you to keep the pizza hot and crisp until you get home.
Italian Artisan, for the Fashion category, a B2B marketplace of Made in Italy fashion that connects the best craftsmen specialized in the manufacture of footwear, accessories and clothing with designers and international retailers.
Leevia, is the winner in the Creative category. They are the first Italian platform to create online contests legal proceedings in just a few clicks. Provides services to companies and communication agencies to involve the community, collect qualified leads and create brand awareness.
Mobygis, is the winner for the Water category. Thanks to a combination of ground, satellite and model data mathematical, provides for the availability of water resources in the territory in the form of snow and water, to tourism, civil protection and hydropower industry.
Nextome, for the Cybersecurity category. Nextome is a patented software system navigation and localisation operating in closed environments (where the signal GPS is not present), technology compatible with traditional smartphones, easy to install.
Planet Idea, for the Smart City category, is the first Competence Center that transforms the large Real Estate real estate interventions in smart projects.
Tommi, for the E-Health category. They are a virtual reality game developed to reduce anxiety and pain in the children with cancer and their caregivers, collecting data useful for doctors to monitor cancer patients and their caregivers patients during therapy.
Tutored, by Edtech category, a social platform where students improve their lives from preparing the exams for the first job opportunities.
Cubbit, for the Iot category, the first data center operating without proprietary servers users connect your storage and get the first unlimited Free Cloud service.
Marshmallow, for the Social Innovation category. Marshmallow Games creates educational apps that stimulate learning by mixing content Editorials and game.
Winning startups can be selected by SEUA to access the benefits and opportunities offered by part of European institutions, businesses, public bodies and other entrepreneurship stakeholders, for develop and promote their business.
They will have the opportunity to take part in the final to be held in Brussels in 2018.
Twelve startups will represent Ireland in the Final of StartUp Europe Awards
More than 25 startups from four geographical regions all over Ireland were competing for a prestigious StartUp Europe Awards in the Bank of Ireland Startup Awards.
The organizer received more than 30 applications from Dublin to Munster or Ulster. All the category winners will receive a package of advertising space with Independent Newspaper valued at 8.000 euros in a legal service package valued at 7.000 euros.
EnergyElephant, Energy categories winner, has thevision to help people make better energy decisions by helping them understand their energy data. Deciding on investing in renewable energy or energy efficiency technology is hard, so they solve this problem by allowing anyone on the planet simply uploand their energy bills to our platform to discover savings.
For the Cyber securitycategory, the winner is Corrata, specialized in providing an enterprise mobility solutions to organizations globally by providing them with technology which protects their organization from the risk associated with their employees use the mobile devices without compromising their employee’s user experience.
Glissed, the biggest online platform for freelance beauty profesionals wins the Fashion category. They allow freelance hair stylists and makeup artists to give the customers the ability to book beauty appointments to their home, hotel or office outside of salon hours. Their vision is to take the freelance beauty industry online.
For the Green category, Swiftcomply, with the vision to simplify environmental compliance for more sustainable communities. They help restaurant and chef producing good food and protecting the environment at the same time.
At Gastronomy category, the winner is The Irish Biltong. This startup produces high protein sliced beef snack food, for the on-the-go individuals. These snacks contain a high concentration of healthy nutrients, are low in sugar and low in fat. It is made from their own grass fed Irish beef.
Popertee is Creative category winners. They build artificial intelligence that matches the perfect audience with the perfect location, enabling brands to discover and book spaces for their marketing and retail campaigns.
In Smarth Cities, SmartTrace win this category. The startup wants to remove world “WASTE” from dictionary – Waste is just a resource that we are not harvesting because of lack of understanding and ignorance of its value. We want to change perception of waste from nuisance to valuable feedstock, delivering triple bottom line to manufacturing companies, financial gains, compliance and huge environmental impact. SmartTrace is a new standard delivering circular economy.
Yedup, the winner of Fintech, develop ultra-fast mathematical algorithms to power the next generation in AI technology.
Medimee is going to represent Ireland in e-Health category. Their objective is to help save lives and enhance health & safety in the workplace, knowing your vital emergency medical information can be communicated even if you cannot, through the simple use of technology.
Aidtech is the winner in Social category. This startup wants to leverage blockchain technology to increase the transparency & efficiency of the delivery of funds, resources & social services.
In the Legal category, the winner is Courtsdesk, with a breaking news service and research database for case details across all UK and Ireland court levels, and in future, the world. With a research tool, the platform allows users to monitor companies and people for involvement in litigation, for example.
To finish, Studybundles wins Edtech category. They sell a software as a service solution to universities, colleges, and schools globally.
StartUp Europe Awards is promoted by the European Commission and supported by the President of the Committee of the Regions, several members of the European Parliament as Ambassadors and it is implemented by Finnova Foundation in collaboration with Startup Europe.
