MADRID

Madrid is connected to another four cities across Europe through the Welcome project. These cities are: Berlin, Dublin, Milan and Salamanca. Madrid is also connected to more than 20 cities around Europe, including the most vibrant European ecosystems such as Paris, Londres, Milan, etc, thanks to the incredibly active entrepreneurial associations that thrive in its ecosystem: Tetuan Valley, Chamberi Valley, Hugin&Munin and Socios Inversores. They are involved in several European Projects that are centered in installing a transnational network of cooperation between the different entrepreneurial ecosystems around Europe, to share knowledge and improve the European Ecosystem as a whole.
The activities included in these projects rank from exchanges between cities to workshops sharing best practices.
But that’s not all, in Madrid there is a very active startup community with events going on every week on marketing, technologies, investment, sharing economy and more. Among the organizations fostering the ecosystem, you can find: Accelerators, Coworking spaces, Incubators and many more.
If you are still not convinced that Madrid is one of the best places to have a startup, here you have some facts and figures about it:
- Capital and largest city of Spain, with the population of the city being almost 3.2 million and that of the Madrid metropolitan area, around 6.3 million.
- It’s known for the quality of its technical talent.
- The Madrid urban agglomeration has the third-largest GDP in the European Union and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, environment, media, fashion, science, culture, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world’s major global cities.
- Due to its economic output, high standard of living, and market size, Madrid is considered the major financial centre of Southern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula; it hosts the head offices of the vast majority of the major Spanish companies.
