Bank of Ireland StartUp Awards joins the StartUp Europe Awards Alliance, and counts on MEP Seán Kelly as ambassador
Bank of Ireland StartUp Awards, national startup awards held in Ireland for 5 years, has counted in this edition on 80 national start-ups from Ireland applying to these awards. With that background, Bank of Ireland StartUp Awards have joined the StartUp Europe Awards Alliance. Since they are now member of the SEA Alliance, the gold winners in these national awards –announced on the 26thof May in the final ceremony held in the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin (Ireland) –are now candidates for the final phase of the StartUp Europe Awards, which ceremony will be held in December 2016.
Thus, Surf Accounts, Kollect, Whelehans Wine, Pip & Pear Chilled Baby food, Cyc-Lok Ltd., Urban Volt and Ujet Group already count on a nomination for the European phase of the SEA 2016.
In this edition, and under the umbrella of the StartUp Europe Awards Alliance, these awards have counted on Seán Kelly, MEP for Ireland from the European People’s Party group, as ambassador.
SEA Alliance has been initiated within the StartUp Europe Awards, an initiative promoted by the European Commission and implemented by Finnova under the umbrella of the programme StartUp Europe. This initiative counts on the support of the president of the Committee of the Regions, Markkus Markkula, and DGs such as DG CONNECT, in charge of Networks and Communications, and DG GROWTH, in charge of SMEs and entrepreneurship, as well as various MEPs. StartUp Europe Awards Alliance comes to live as a collaborative union in which its members act following principles based in best practices to reach the following objectives:
- Reward StartUp Awards organisers’ contribution to the entrepreneurship.
- Offer visibility to the excellence and talent of the European start-ups through its participation in the StartUp Europe Awards.
- Promoting the creation of start-ups, also supporting the already existing ecosystems.
- Encouraging different entities to organise events and awards for start-ups.
To achieve the former objectives, the Alliance aims at creating a forum for the interchange of best practices, also aiming at contributing to the creation of synergies among its members, thus promoting networking and interconnection of start-ups ecosystems, aiming at developing a net of StartUp Awards organisers.
Therefore, with the inclusion of the StartUp Awards Ireland in the StartUp Europe Awards Alliance, the former gains European scope thus increasing its impact.
