Startup Ole brought Europe to Salamanca
The first edition of Startup Ole took place during 3 days (from the 9th to the 11th of September of 2015) at the same time as the local festivities of Salamanca, marking September as the month to celebrate not only the traditions of the town but also its entrepreneurial ecosystem by bringing together important actors from all across Europe.
Startup Ole took place at Palacio de Congresos and was possible thanks to the cooperation of many organizers and collaborators, including many volunteers lead by BISITE Accelerator, IEEE Spain and the WELCOME Project as part of Startup Europe, a European Commission´s initiative to promote tech entrepreneurship across Europe.
Startup Ole’s main objective was to establish a meeting point for key actors in the tech entrepreneurial ecosystems in Europe, engaging the most relevant startups, accelerators, corporates and investors. The event exceed expectations by gathering more than 800 attendees from 44 different countries, including 100 startups which found in Startup Ole a window to show their products and pitch their ideas. The 26 investors and 40 corporates present provided a wealth of contacts and opportunities. In fact, 20 concrete deals between startups and investors were reached, fruit of the different networking activities taking place.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn from 100 different speakers knowledgeable about the startup scene in Europe and around the globe; and were also able to get to know different opportunities offered by accelerators in the 11 accelerator pitches that took place during the two days of the Accelerator Assembly Conference 2015, also part of the Startup Ole programme.
Startup Ole promises to be one of the most important platforms for networking and tech entrepreneurial growth so it will be worthwhile to follow their activities and future editions through their website www.startupole.eu and Twitter: @WELCOMEstartup
