Startup Olé Accelerator hosts SEC2U

Entrepreneurship is increasingly seen as a valuable career choice for recent graduates. Developing your entrepreneurial competencies is now seen as crucial, not only for starting your own business, butfor contributing to the success of small companies. Even large corporations are beginning to see the value in entrepreneurial skills for their employees.

There still exists a struggle for students to obtain entrepreneurship skills and experience, with commercialization and knowledge transfer often overlooked. For this reason, we welcome Startup Europe Comes to Universities (SEC2U)!

SEC2Uis an initiative endorsed by the European Commission (Startup Europe) to create a strong culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within universities across Europe. This consists of a series of events that bring together students, university staff,entrepreneurs, businessmen and representatives of local governments in order to showcase the available support andform valuable connections in the startup ecosystem. The second edition of SEC2U will take place from the 23rdto the 29thof October and the University of Salamanca/Startup Olé Acceleratorwill be joining the initiative!

During the event that will take place in the Narodowy Stadium, Warsaw as part of the CEE Acceleration Summit on the 26thof October, where Universities will come together with Accelerators, Corporations and Policy Makers to bring up the startup ecosystem in Europe

Startup Olé Accelerator of the University of Salamanca will be supported by other universities across Europe, taking steps towards the internationalization of the CEE region together with over 30 prestigious universities in the SEC2U initiative.

With approximately 3000 peopleexpected in attendance, this is a time to showcase the work of universities in the entrepreneurship area, build bridges between university communities and startup ecosystems and facilitate connections!

About Startup Europe Comes to the Universities (SEC2U)

Startup Europe Comes to the Universities (SEC2U) is a Europe wide initiative to engage universities (from the Startup Europe University Network and beyond) and enable them to spread an entrepreneurial culture. SEC2U will hold events across Europe during the week of 23rd to 29th of October 2017.

The main objective of the SEC2U events is to showcase the commitment of European universities for entrepreneurship and to connect universities to the wider startup ecosystem.

ePlus Investment Forum

ePlus project, a project of Startup Europe, will be holding their Investment Forum event at EBAN Malaga 2017

The investment forum will take place on 7th June but all selected entrepreneurs will get a free pass to attend the EBAN Annual Congress on 8th and 9th June.

The EBAN Annual Congress is one of Europe’s largest and most international business angel events held annually by EBAN in cooperation with its best members. After 17 successful editions of the event, the last of which in Eindhoven 2015 and Porto 2016, this year’s edition of the event is coming to Malaga on the 7-9 of June 2017 and will be hosted by the City of Malaga and Promalaga at the grand Palacio de ferias y congresos de Malaga.

The EBAN Annual Congress 2017 will be a spring of new ideas and trends, bringing together the world’s most eminent business angels, entrepreneurs and opinion makers, and enabling networking and dealmaking with experts in the field. We are expecting more than 500 participants from the early stage investing market as well as 100 startups from all over Europe and beyond.

Madrid Startup House will be at Startup Olé!

Madrid Startup House is going to be at Startup Olé, a great tech event in Salamanca, Spain, on 26th and 27th April!

Madrid Startup House is a pilot initiative which began through Startup Europe. It aims to be a one stop shop where entrepreneurs and startups can find everything they need to startup in Madrid, Spain. It is a neutral space which aims to connect all players of the ecosystem, and facilitate Madrid, and Spain’s, ability to adapt to the Digital Single Market.

Madrid Startup House will be at Startup Olé for both days of the event, to present the Madrid ecosystem and explain more about the initiative.

Madrid Startup House will:

  • Be there with its two co-founders Victor Teodosio and Asier Basterretxea
  • Have its own stand where you come to visit us and ask all of your questions
  • Bring members of the Madrid ecosystem to meet you
  • Bring selected top startups from Madrid: more on this very soon!

About Startup Olé

Startup Olé emerged in 2015 from a highly successful European project within Startup Europe (WELCOME). The main objective of this project was to connect the startup ecosystems across Europe and advance European tech entrepreneurship. Although this project has now finished, Startup Olé persists as a unique event to drive entrepreneurship through effective collaboration. In fact, because of its origins, Startup Olé has become something that no other event has been able to achieve: A place where meaningful connections can be made with ALL the key players in the tech ecosystem.

Press coverage of startup Job Today winning a Startup Europe Award!

Job Today, la app que conecta empresas y candidatos y que ha revolucionado la forma de encontrar empleo a través de la tecnología móvil, ha sido seleccionada como finalista para competir en los Startup Europe Awards (SEUA).

Los SEUA, una iniciativa promovida por la Comisión Europea e implementada por Finnova en colaboración con StartUp Europe, tienen como objetivo reconocer las mejores StartUps europeas. Los premios, que se entregarán el próximo marzo, se dividen en 10 categorías según el ámbito de actuación de cada start-up. Así, Job Today competirá en representación de Luxemburgo (país donde se fundó la compañía) dentro de la categoría Social, por su contribución a la estimulación positiva del mercado laboral al favorecer la agilidad y eficiencia de los procesos de selección.

Job Today fue lanzada en mayo de 2015 y España fue el primer país donde operó y es dónde actualmente lidera el mercado del recruitment mobile en el sector servicios.

STARTIFY7: “Los finalistas de STARTIFY7 visitan Bruselas para la fase final”

ALMERÍA.- Trece participantes del Campus de Verano de la Universidad de Almería, para el desarrollo del Emprendimiento, celebrado en el marco del programa Startify7, y financiado por la Comisión Europea, han sido seleccionados para la fase final del proyecto. Hasta Bruselas han acudido durante los pasados 5, 6 y 7 de octubre para presentar sus proyectos ante un panel de aceleradoras, business angels e inversores institucionales.

El programa Startify7 es fruto del trabajo conjunto de 12 universidades y centros de fomento del emprendimiento en toda Europa. Ha desarrollado 7 campus de verano en 7 ciudades distintas con el fin de desarrollar las capacidades emprendedoras de los jóvenes europeos a través de un enfoque aplicado y basado en el trabajo en equipo. Cada uno de los campus de verano ha desarrollado proyectos alrededor de un área tecnológica distinta.

Así, en el campus de Almería, organizado por profesores de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales el pasado mes de julio, 50 participantes de 26 nacionalidades distintas investigaron y desarrollaron soluciones emprendedoras en el ámbito de las simulaciones, la realidad virtual y aumentada.

Los equipos almerienses finalmente galardonados en la fase final de Bruselas han sido:

  • Dresy, una solución de realidad aumentada que permite probar la ropa virtualmente en las compras por internet
  • Vrehab, un servicio de rehabilitación para niños con parálisis cerebral a través de juegos en realidad virtual
  • Relieve, una solución que permitirá a las ONGs mostrar las condiciones de vida en los campos de refugiados a la sociedad a través de paseos de realidad virtual
  • ArStory, un software de realidad aumentada que permitirá a los turistas contemplar los monumentos en ruinas en todo su esplendor.

Tres estudiantes almerienses forman parte de estos equipos finalistas que asistieron a la fase final en Bruselas en la que recibieron formación especializada en la financiación de startups tecnológicas y han tenido la oportunidad de defender sus proyectos ante un panel de expertos e inversores.
