MY-GATEWAY partners become Startup Europe Ambassadors
19 March 2018, all MY-GATEWAY partners proudly became part of the “Startup Europe Ambassador” movement in 13 countries. The Startup Europe Ambassadors are a group of key influencers in the European startup ecosystems to provide information and advice about the European Commission’s Startup Europe initiative. The objective is to democratise the startup phenomenon so that every citizen has a fair chance to become a successful entrepreneurs wherever they are located in Europe. The ambassadors will also help startups in their growth phase to have access to all the opportunities offered at European level. All Startup Europe Ambassadors are publicly presented today at the “Startup Europe Campfire” held in Paris.
Throughout the years, European Commission’s Startup Europe initiative has become a top reference in the European startup related field, by supporting directly around 60 local ecosystems and over 750 startups to grow beyond borders. The mission of Startup Europe is to build a Startup Continent by connecting pools of talent. The initiative encourages entrepreneurship, startup creation and growth; and connects startups, investors, accelerators, corporates, universities and the media through an array of grassroots initiatives or networks.
Europa Media, Czech Invest, Spherik Accelerator, Startups Slovenia, European Young Innovators Forum, Startups.be, Startup Ole Accelerator, Universidade Nova Lisboa, Hugin and Munin, NACUE, Bar Ilan University, SPARK Business Park, Start-up Serbia and Seavus Incubator are part of the new Startup Europe Horizon 2020 funded project MY-GATEWAY which was publicly launched during the Startup Europe Campfire in Paris on 19th March 2018.
MY-GATEWAY is one of the 7 Startup Europe projects. It aims to strenghten the capacities of high-tech startups and innovative SMEs in the Central and Eastern European region ot become bettwe connected, gain higher market exposure and have improved, streamlined access to funding opportunities and talent.
In an ever-changing European startup ecosystem the Startup Europe initiative has designed the group of its Ambassadors to democratise the startup phenomenon so that every citizen has a fair chance to become a successful entrepreneurs wherever they are located in Europe. The role of the ambassadors is to provide information and advice about the European Commission’s Startup Europe initiative. In addition, the ambassadors will also help startups in their growth phase to have access to all the opportunities offered at European level.
The Startup Europe Ambassadors will actively contribute to the visibility of Startup Europe activities at the local level by acting as a key information point in their countries and also as connector for the local ecosystem with the other startups ecosystems across Europe. The first members of this group are the organisations who have been selected through the evaluation of proposals of European Commission’s Horizon 2020 ICT 32 call, as well as partners of European funded projects WeP-UP or OpenMaker.

STARTUP EUROPE: LEADING PARTNER FOR ENTREPRENEURS AND THEIR ECOSYSTEMS
STARTUP EUROPE CAMPFIRE PARIS:
Paris CAMPFIRE will be the first of a series of events piloted by the Startup Europe initiative of European Commission Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology through consortium leaders, to highlight the opportunities and network the community partners.
Thus the Campfire will be advertised throughout Europe – by setting the first one in Paris, DG Connect and Startup Europe initiative is encouraging Paris area and France for the leading role these ecosystems are taking in the support of start-ups & their ecosystems, and the shift France makes to become a startup nation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CAMPFIRE OPENING EVENT:
The event gathers several objectives among which:
- Promote Entrepreneurship culture – The European Startup Continent
- Promote the Startup Europe Initiative and tools @overall European level
- Reinforce links between Startup Europe Initiative and national/local initiatives
- Promote opportunities for startups and ecosystems to participate in the 10 running and financed programs
- Discuss potential areas for further implications for next calls
- Showcase Paris Area as a leading hub for start-ups and build bridges with the CEE and Balkans
- Better connect French Tech & Paris Ecosystem players to Startup Europe

Nitro the extreme acceleration event
Startup Europe proudly launches Nitro: the extreme acceleration event. 20 European startups are invited to work with expert consultants, corporates and investors to gear up for the next episode in their development.
Nitro: the extreme acceleration event
Startups in the Growth phase can apply for Nitro: the Extreme Acceleration Event. The event is tailored to the specific needs of startups and will be taking place on the 1st and 2nd December 2016 in Sophia Antipolis, France. Interested startups can apply for Nitro on F6S until November 6 2016 (new Deadlne).
After being selected the startup will be contacted for the pre work on their chosen topics.
During the event, 20 international mature startups will work together with consultants and business angels from Capgemini Consulting, Europe Unlimited, Inovamais, INTRASOFT International, the European Crowdfunding Network, and the European Business Angels Network on topics ranging from customer journey to investment readiness, from sales to innovation management.

The key is that the startups themselves choose which topics they want to work on before, during and after the event. They will have the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience of these groups of consultants.
Even more so, delegates of large corporations and investors are present, creating the opportunity for the startups to present their products and receive feedback from representatives of their actual target group and customers. In short, a great opportunity to apply the new insights from the consulting sessions against the standards of the market.
All of this will be set up in a truly interactive way, no long presentations but real working sessions to create value for startups.
Nitro: the Extreme Acceleration Event is open for startups that have the following profile:
- Mature startup that already has a (small) customer base in the domestic market and is on the brink of international expansion
- Can be classified as a web-entrepreneur
- Have a good understanding of the needs to make the next stage

Nitro is totally free of charge thanks to the support of the European Commission. Furthermore candidates can also applied for a Micro-Grants to cover part of their travel costs.
