MY-GATEWAY EMBRACES THE NEW YEAR WITH A GOLDEN TICKET TO STARTUP OLÉ.

What did you write in your New Year’s resolutions list?

Did you wish for happiness, travelling to a Western European country, attending startup events, meeting new investors..? If this is the case, I’m thrilled to announce that Startup Olé is looking for 15 CEE startups to join the event! Yes, you read it well: 15 startups!

MY-GATEWAY will help detect those Central and Eastern European startups that will benefit the most from attending the Spanish event, making sure startups are well aware of the opportunities they can be catered for. The target of our contest are startups based either in Romania, Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Those startups will need to really convince and tell us why they think Startup Olé can help them out boost their business growth, and, of course, send us a pitch deck. Attending Startup Olé can be a truly enriching experience… as you long as you prepare well for it! By using the Startup Olé app, you can gain access to investors, corporates, mentors and set up meetings with our fellow attendees.

Startup Olé startup stand in 2018

To make sure you stand out as you deserve, you’ll be provided with a whole stand to show your product and sell it to your target, so do come prepared with merchandising and flyers that can help you achieve your objectives! And…did I already say that travel and accommodation costs are included for one representative of your team? We really don’t want the distance, and its costs, to be a problem. That’s why travel and subsistence expenses are entirely covered by us.

Last but not least, some of the startups which will go through our selection process will also gain the possibility to join the PITCHING competition.

What do YOU need to do?

In order to be eligible for this contest you’ll have to do the following:

  • send your pitch deck to contest@mygatewayproject.eu

  • in the body of the email, tell us:

    • why you’d like us to attend,

    • what your expectations are,

    • your vertical,

    • contact details of the person who would be attending the event (name, surname, email, telephone);

and also:

  1. on social media, share/retweet a message in which you saw the open call promoted (in your email, we’d like to see the link to your publication or a screenshot)

  2. and follow and/or like MY-GATEWAY social media channels (FacebookTwitterLinkedInInstagram)

Deadline for applications: 4th of February 2019

The fourth edition of the Startup Europe Summit takes place on 15 November, in Sofia, with 400 key actors from the European startup “ecosystem”. The event will bring together some of the best European startups with investors, media and policy makers. Aside of interesting speakers, who will be analysing key technological and policy trends for European startups, the event provides a great opportunity to mingle with people building the European startup ecosystems, identify new funding opportunities and get a feel of what is happening in the startup world, notably from Central Eastern Europe and Western Balkans regions.

Keynote speakers this year include Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, Simon Schaefer, Founder & CEO of Factory, President of Startup Portugal and Angel Investor in Europe and Anja Monrad, Senior Vice President & General Manager at Dell EMC and chair of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Governing Board. The meeting will also be attended by Boyko Borissov(tbc), Prime Minister of Bulgaria, as well as Yordanka Fandakova (tbc), Mayor of Sofia. You can consult the programme here.

This year’s Startup Europe Summit will be linked to the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans, launched earlier this year by the European Commission. The aim of this initiative is to support the transition of the region and bring the benefits of the digital transformation to its citizens, by helping modernise public administrations, strengthen cybersecurity, increase connectivity, and improve the business climate.

The region has major assets with its large pool of talented people with strong ICT skills, dynamically growing start-up community and its rapidly improving infrastructure, connectivity and proximity to large markets. The digital transformation is also crucial for the growth of this Region – it can help transform local economies and societies while creating high-quality jobs.

The conference would also be an opportunity to be briefed by experts from the European Commission on the progress in establishing a Digital Single Market policies and what we are doing to support the growth of startups and young innovative companies and to help to SMEs to help take advantage of the digital transformation.

Nitro the extreme acceleration event

nitro-a4-banner-for-corporates-good

Startup Europe proudly launches Nitro: the extreme acceleration event. 20 European startups are invited to work with expert consultants, corporates and investors to gear up for the next episode in their development.

Nitro: the extreme acceleration event

Startups in the Growth phase can apply for Nitro: the Extreme Acceleration Event. The event is tailored to the specific needs of startups and will be taking place on the 1st and 2nd December 2016 in Sophia Antipolis, France. Interested startups can apply for Nitro on F6S until November 6 2016 (new Deadlne).

After being selected the startup will be contacted for the pre work on their chosen topics.

During the event, 20 international mature startups will work together with consultants and business angels from Capgemini Consulting, Europe Unlimited, Inovamais, INTRASOFT International, the European Crowdfunding Network, and the European Business Angels Network on topics ranging from customer journey to investment readiness, from sales to innovation management.

Topics Summary (see the extended description and the trainers profiles)

  1. Investment Readiness
  2. Pitching Session
  3. Growth & Internationalisation through European Funding
  4. Growth & Internationalisation Strategies: Sales
  5. Customer Journey Design
  6. Intermediaries to Innovation Management in the Digital Era
  7. Innovation Governance
  8. Negotiating a Technology Agreement
  9. Grow with the Crowd

The key is that the startups themselves choose which topics they want to work on before, during and after the event. They will have the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience of these groups of consultants.

Even more so, delegates of large corporations and investors are present, creating the opportunity for the startups to present their products and receive feedback from representatives of their actual target group and customers. In short, a great opportunity to apply the new insights from the consulting sessions against the standards of the market.

All of this will be set up in a truly interactive way, no long presentations but real working sessions to create value for startups.

Nitro: the Extreme Acceleration Event is open for startups that have the following profile:

  • Mature startup that already has a (small) customer base in the domestic market and is on the brink of international expansion
  • Can be classified as a web-entrepreneur
  • Have a good understanding of the needs to make the next stage

Interested startups can apply for Nitro on F6S until the 6th of November 2016 (New Deadline). After being selected the startup will be contacted for the pre work on their chosen topics. Apply here

Nitro is totally free of charge thanks to the support of the European Commission. Furthermore candidates can also applied for a Micro-Grants to cover part of their travel costs.

More information on how to apply can be found in the “Guide for applicants”.
